Technology Ltd - Specialist Building Construction Gypsum plasters have been used in the construction industry for thousands of years. They are chosen for extreme fire resistance, ease of repair, simplicity in manufacture, good sound absorption, low cost and quality of finish. Their weakness is the susceptibility to water penetration and poor weather and water resistance. Tricorn has developed plastic polymers to greatly increase this resistance without losing the inherent qualities of gypsum plaster.
The natural and chemically gentle nature of PMG's cure enables the material to be used as a matrix around various types of aggregates, additives and reinforcements enabling a wide variety of 'designer' materials and constructions. The polymers used for PMG have a high degree of cross-polymer linking that in addition to affording excellent defensive capabilities also gives three dimensional stability and strength.
The larger archway including all the decorative detail was finished in
less than three months using a PMG construction. The 17 metre high columns
were made in sections and seamlessly glued into place also with PMG. They
appear carved from the building rather than appearing stuck to it. Polymer Modified Gypsum for Specialist Building Construction |
